‘Green’ pocket cards available

Ninety-two percent of all home buyers consider energy efficiency at least somewhat important and 46 percent of all home buyers rank energy efficiency as very important when considering a home for purchase. Increasingly, consumers’ preferences for products and services reflect awareness in energy efficiency, even extending to those looking to purchase a home. The National Association of REALTORS® newly released Selling Green pocket card evaluates the characteristics of home buyers and their home feature preferences in regards to energy efficiency. The data on the card is culled from the 2007 NAR Profile of Buyers’ Home Feature Preferences. Pocket cards come in packs of 50. Join the limo parade

C
alling all REALTORS®! The Women’s Council of REALTORS® is sponsoring its second annual REALTORS® on Parade Limo Tour on April 24, this year featuring the northeast Wake County area Three communities will be visited: Terrell Plantation, presented by Allen Tate Co.; Granite Falls, marketed by RE/MAX United; and DRESS Homes’ Lakes of Rolesville. The limo tour is a great way to familiarize yourself with available communities and at the same time network with colleagues in a fun environment. Lunch will be provided at the home sites and refreshments will be served in the limos. The limo parade begins at 111 Realtors Way in Cary at 10 a.m. and concludes at the same location at approximately 3 p.m. Pre-registration is required and may be completed using PayPal on the WCR website, www.raleighwcr.org or by contacting Davion Cross of Cross Real Estate Services at 272-2802. Last year’s REALTORS® on Parade was a great success, and according to Louise Griffin, WCR president-elect, “Everyone who went had a great time and asked for another event.”  Don’t miss your ride; register early.

Raleigh named 2nd best place for house bargains

The best place to get a bargain on a home is an area where there is healthy job growth and more houses available than people to buy them. Forbes magazine went looking for markets where the damage from risky lending hasn’t been as dramatic as in some parts of the country and where employment growth will burn off an over-abundance of inventory quickly.

Here are what the magazine considers the 10 best cities for bargain house hunters:

1. Salt Lake City, Utah.
2. Raleigh, N.C.
3. Orlando, Fla.
4. Charlotte, N.C.
5. Phoenix, Ariz.
6. Seattle, Wash.
7. Las Vegas, Nev.
8. Jacksonville, Fla.
9. Richmond, Va.
10. Houston, Texas

Water Restrictions Prevent Completion of Important Projects?

Many local residents trying to sell or renovate their homes were left in the lurch when the Stage II water restrictions went into effect.  The stage II restrictions prevent residents from power washing their homes.  Fortunately, there are alternatives.  The City of Raleigh will provide non-potable water to residents who complete a three hour class regarding the process.  For information regarding the class and water options visit  www.raleigh-nc.org

Don’t have time to do it all yourself?
Call A+ Power Washing at (919) 272-6217.
The owner, Steve Woodlief uses well water to do his power washing.
