REALTORS® on the road again
By Gary Rabon
In our business, personal contacts are vital, yet how often have you been introduced to a potential client and then immediately forgotten his or her name?

We’ve all done it, more times than we care to admit. And it’s a shame because remembering someone’s name shows you respect and are interested in the person. Forgetting someone’s name can be considered quite the opposite.Read More

MLS organizations agree to data sharing
In an unprecedented cooperative effort, Carolina MLS, Triad MLS, Triangle MLS and the Western North Carolina Regional MLS – the four largest multiple listing service (MLS) organizations in North Carolina – have tentatively agreed to proceed with a data sharing service called the North Carolina Data Share (NCDS).

NCDS service allows a real estate broker in any one of the participating MLSs to advertise nearly all the listings for sale in all four MLSs on the broker’s consumer-oriented Web site. NCDS expands the Internet Data Exchange (IDX) program, which each MLS currently offers independently for its own brokers.Read More

Visual Media
The first step to a home sale
Seeing a home inside and out before actually visiting it has become an integral part of the home buying process through the use of visual media.

Just as buyers pause when they drive by homes that possess a certain curb appeal, they now can stop and get a very good beforehand look at what they want through the use of photography on real estate Web sites or a variety of publications.

At a well-known Ivy League school, a new, prestigious science building was to be built on the north end of campus. The price: $260 million. NAR advances plan for property database
By Robert Freedman and Stacey Moncrieff
Meeting in May in Washington, D.C., the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors took a major strategic leap authorizing the association to work with a technology company to create a broker-controlled national repository or “library” of property data that would provide members-only access to detailed information on all properties in the United States.

The repository, which NAR is calling a "digital library/archive," would be revenue neutral but could eventually be fee-based to cover operating costs. Read More
